What is the service life of an electric golf cart?

The service life of an electric golf cart is directly related to the battery used, provided that the overall structure of the vehicle is intact. The designed lifespan of the battery is 27 months. If used normally, it can last for about 2 years before being replaced with a new battery. If lithium batteries are used as the driving force, the service life of 5-8 years is completely no problem. Compared to battery powered golf carts, the price of lithium batteries is much higher.

The reasons that affect the service life of batteries include:

Discharge depth
Based on actual measurements, taking a 48V golf cart with a motor power of 3000W on a flat court as an example: the lead-acid battery used needs to consume about 60Ah of energy for every 18 holes completed, which requires about 120Ah of energy to complete two games per day. The daily discharge depth of this golf cart has reached over 70%; If it is a mountain court, the discharge depth of the golf cart's 36 holes per day can reach 80% or even higher. The deeper the discharge depth, the greater the probability of producing outdated batteries, which will accelerate the aging of the batteries.

Battery vulcanization
The main reason why lead-acid batteries can no longer be used normally is that the plates are covered with layers of hard and dense white lead sulfate crystals, which cannot be converted into active substances during charging, thereby reducing the battery's discharge capacity and ultimately causing it to "suffocate". This process is called vulcanization.

There are various reasons for vulcanization, including deep discharge, undercharging, and long-term storage without use of batteries. Over time, vulcanization significantly reduces the performance of lead-acid batteries and shortens their lifespan. The direct symptom of vulcanization is a decrease in the range of the ball car, which is essentially a decrease in battery capacity. Only by completely solving the vulcanization problem of lead-acid batteries can the service life of batteries be truly extended.
